Turkey 2020. The Economy, the Society, the Foreign policy: Possible developments

15th May, 2013

Turati Palace, Via Meravigli 9b, Milan

UniCredit Group and CIPMO initiated in 2011 an alliance aimed at organizing a series of Conferences dedicated to what we call the "Turkey Phenomenon" with the intent to promote a wider understanding of its social, economic and political issues.

Despite a growing interest in Turkey, in fact a superficial approach to the multifaceted and complex new realities of this Country is still detected. The phenomenon of Turkey is still perceived in a fragmented way by public opinion and by Italian and European business circles, while it would deserve a thorough understanding as a whole. Therefore we consider it appropriate to promote an overall reflection on this Country, through a modular process by phases, that is by three thematic workshops, dedicated to analyze the development of society, economic and financial perspectives, and finally the Country's international projection.

After a first meeting held in October 2011, which dealt with current internal dynamics and socio-cultural trends in Turkey, and a new one, held in June 2012, which dealt with the economic relations between Turkey, Europe and the Mediterranean Area, it is now time for a debate focused on the middle term perspectives (Turkey 2020), concerning the internal situation and the foreign policy.
