"Turkey, Italy and EU relations in a period of political and economic turmoil"

The VII Edition of Ita-Turk Forum held on 8-9 November 2010 at Palazzo Barberini in Rome.

The closed door session on November 8 was dedicated to a debate on mutual experience with the aim of finding new opportunities and collaboration between the two countries on the sectors of renewable energies and IT. A paper titled "Building new paths of cooperation in R&D and Technology Innovation, the cases of renewable energy and IT" and elaborated on by the Istituto Affari Internazionali (IAI) and the think tank Global Relations Forum (GRF) were debated with the aim of identifying ways and means to increase technological cooperation between institutions and companies with a specific focus on two specific sectors: distributed energy generation and renewable sources and the internet of the future.

The public session with the presence of the Italian and Turkish Ministers for Foreign Affairs, Mr Franco Frattini and Dr. Ahmet Davutoglu, was focused on "Turkey, Italy and EU relations in a period of political and economic turmoil".

In the evening of November 8 a cultural event was also organized where guests could further celebrate the cultural ties between the two countries enjoying a Turkish - Italian dinner jointly prepared by two leading chefs in a sort of competition.
